Digital Presence

Digital Presence and Advanced Services
Important:
The consulting services for the Digital Presence and the Advanced Services are completely independent of those of the Digital Transformation, although they may be part of it.
Remember that Digital Presence and Advanced Services have more to do with Digitization, and should never be confused with a Digital Transformation.

Website
Digital Presence
Half a million new websites are being created every day on the Internet. It is no longer necessary to explain what a web page is. Instead, with so much volume of websites in the digital world, then comes the following question:
How to set up a website, or a website, that can stand out properly to achieve a better Digital Presence, with so much competition?
There are no restrictions, websites can be made in many ways. In our case, we do it taking into account the following elements:
Respect for the “brand”:
- of the institution
- of the organization
- of the school
The desired objective scope with the Web:
- A teaching portal for a school
- An online store with a good digital presence
- A Blog of news or information
- A consolidation of independent websites in a single central portal
A network management portal:
- sites
- remote offices
- schools
To improve your digital presence, having a good website is definitely the starting point.
ConsulCat:
At ConsulCat, we study the needs and advise the appropriate solution to obtain the best Digital Presence.
Search Engine Optimization
Digital Presence
The acronym SEO means “Search Engines Optimization” in English. The best known and most popular search engine is Google, but there are others like Microsoft’s Bing and others ….
When we do a search, the search engine presents us with lists of results that respond as closely as possible to what we are looking for. The important thing for the search engine reputation is that with a few terms we can already find exactly what we wanted.
So, so that the search engine can select the best possible results (and avoid having to repeat searches and read pages and pages of results before finding what we are looking for), the search engine has to use very specific criteria when analyzing the millions of websites that exist.
That’s where SEO comes into play. SEO is a way to ensure that our website respects all the rules of the game, so that search engines can directly understand “what topics” our website deals with, and thus ensure a stronger Digital Presence.
That said, a website without SEO is like a radio station without an antenna. No matter how interesting the contents of this radio, without being able to broadcast, no one will know of its existence. SEO is like the antenna, the more powerful the SEO, the more powerful the antenna. There are other factors, but this one, SEO, is key to the success of a website.
The best part is that the proportion of websites in the Catalan language is very small, compared to the total of all the websites on the internet, all languages confused. It is necessary to take advantage of this segmentation to position itself well and thus have a good digital presence, in the local language.
ConsulCat:
At ConsulCat, we have experience with the key elements that are essential in a website, to ensure the best possible result with search engines. With all the number of websites that exist, the competition between websites is very high and that is why every possible detail needs to be taken care of.
Backup and Replication Strategies
Advanced Services
Data loss can have important consequences. If your organization has physical and / or virtual servers, it is important to think about backups.
But if the data is in the Cloud, it is also important to make backups, as solutions in the Cloud do not always involve the presence of backups that can be used to recover lost data.
Beware of false beliefs: Using Google G-Suite or Microsoft O365 technology means you don’t need backup strategies?
For example, if Google’s infrastructure is so robust and Google never loses data, then why do I need my own backup solution?
Well, there are several reasons, but we will focus here on just one already very important one: Any document deleted by a user will remain in the trash for 30 days, before being permanently deleted from the system.
Reasons for data loss:
- Human error
- Someone who gains access to your keyboard erases your data
- a hacker
- etc
How to back up your Google G-Suite or Microsoft O365 environment?
- Cloud to Cloud solutions:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Private Cloud
- Cloud to OnPremises solutions:
- A software product for generating backups, from the Cloud to a local computer
- A hardware product, such as a NAS, to generate and store backups
What are the benefits for the user of using a backup solution:
- Control over data and versions
- Much broader retention control (e.g. keep deleted documents for 1 year, instead of the default 30 days)
- It can be determined what data needs that level of protection
- They can be programmed and automated
- Backup reports can be generated
ConsulCat:
We can help you select the most suitable backup product, depending on the rest of the environment to be protected.
Disaster Recovery Plan
Advanced Services
Aside from the need to think about backup solutions for local servers and / or data in the Cloud, you also need to think about disaster recovery solutions.
We often associate “disasters” with natural disasters, floods, fires, earthquakes, but in reality, the probability of encountering one of these types of catastrophes is very low.
In contrast, in the world of technology, a common “catastrophe” can be the result of:
- Human error (Probably the most common one!)
- Material errors (parts, cables, components, etc.)
- Utility errors (power out)
- The result of patching a server and not being able to boot it again, due to a problem with the patch.
- The corruption of a database
- A virus
- A hacker
- A Ransomware (serious problem and unfortunately increasingly popular)
- And the list goes on for more reasons…
The impact of such a problem can be large and costly, for the entire organization.
Gartner analysts, Witty and Scott, said in 2001 that two out of five companies experiencing a disaster would close within five years, but planning a good disaster recovery solution would ensure the organization’s survival.
ConsulCat:
We can suggest solutions to be properly protected and ready in the event of a problem that could impede the normal operation of the organization at any time.
There are various types of disaster recovery products and solutions. They can be for environments in premises (premises), or in Cloud.
At ConsulCat, we have experience with both types of solutions and we will adapt to the needs of your organization.
VPN between Offices and Microsoft Azure
Advanced Services
The possibilities of creating a VPN, ie a virtual and secure tunnel between networks, between local networks (on premises) and the Microsoft Azure Cloud are very interesting, as the network in Azure for VPN becomes an “extension” of your local network. This means that it is completely transparent for a user or a local server, in a headquarters, to communicate with a virtual server, for example, in Azure.
Examples of use cases:
- Lack of space to store documents, data, or any type of content on the local network.
- Have only one headquarters, preventing the replication of data between one (s) headquarters, as a data protection solution (multiplying the number of copies).
- The use of other headquarters (ies) for the use of a “continuity” solution, in case the main headquarters has a serious problem that prevents it from operating normally.
- Want to have test servers, temporary, without having to invest in the purchase and installation at headquarters, or remote.
With Microsoft Azure, it is possible to use models of specific Routers, which will be able to create the VPN tunnel made Azure, simplifying communications from the local network and the remote network (in Azure), as if both were “the same network”.
ConsulCat:
At ConsulCat, we can help you extend your local network to Microsoft Azure, to benefit from the elasticity and immediate availability that the Cloud offers.
Infrastructure as a Code
IaC
Advanced Services
Infrastructure as a Code (IAC), what is it for?
The use of iac allows to automate processes for the deployment of computer resources both on their premises and in the Cloud.
Basically, the idea of IAC is to be able to program as many maneuvers normally performed by humans as possible, so that the actions can be done:
- Automatically
- Without human intervention or possibilities of human error
- Faster
- In parallel (when possible, if there are no dependencies to proceed in a specific order of doing things)
There are several IAC technologies for automation:
- Terraform by HashiCrop
- ARM templates by MS Azure
- CloudFormation bt AWS
- Ansible from RedHat
- And others…
Each of these technologies has its pros and cons, pros and cons.
